Announced way back in 2009, the Korean national project “Robot Land” has been on the back burner for a while and is now finally becoming a reality. With new plans of an opening in September 2016, the planned robotic theme park is set to cover around 300 acres. The project will include a robot research development center, convention center, robot exhibition hall, and private facilities such as themed parks and youth hostels with plans to open the theme park as early as January next year, but considering the lengthy delays already taken place with this gargantuan project, we don’t suggest holding your breath on that.
The land is currently 89% purchased and the project has won over 700 million in funding (~£400 million) and after years battling with environmental issues the project broke ground in December 2013, so work has begun on the first stages of development.
The concept art is hugely promising and it’s definitely a project worth keeping an eye on, hopefully we’ll get to take a trip there sometime soon!
