The ambitious project to map the entire world through drones for a massive RPG video game has begun.
The project which has partnership from Sense Fly, a company that specialises in drones, are hoping to map the world “one kilometre squared at a time”. Undoubtedly a near impossible task, which should probably be taken with a grain of salt. The drones will take high resolution images which will then, through no easy feat, be converted into 3D world models using existing game engine technology.
The project is being run by two ex-Ubisoft employees, from the makers of games such as the Assassins Creed series and upcoming games such as Watchdogs and The Division.
